Embark on a mouthwatering journey to Japan, where every meal tells a story, and every bite is a discovery! From bustling fish markets to hidden izakayas, steaming bowls of ramen to delicate kaiseki artistry, you’ll experience the full spectrum of Japan’s culinary wonders.
The below is an approximation of the tour that is currently being developed.
Travelers embarking on this special culinary journey are joined by chefs who have immersed themselves in Japanese food and culture. Special appearances by additional food experts join the group along the way.
Day 1: Tokyo, Japan
- Arrive in Tokyo, Japan
- Transfer on own to your accommodations or choose to instead pre-arrange a shared shuttle or private transfer.
- Enjoy the evening at leisure
- Overnights: Centrally Located Tokyo Hotel
Day 2: Tokyo
- Begin the day embarking on your group journey with a special Shinto blessing at a local shrine.
- Continue to a private Taiko drum class, a style of drumming predominantly used in the military arena
- Sit down as a group with special local guest for an exclusive soba lunch experience
- Break into small groups tonight to enjoy a flavorful journey through Japan’s local watering holes, izakayas
Day 3: Tokyo
- With your guide, join a special guest for a tour of Tsukiji’s Outer Market
- Enjoy an early light lunch at the market
- The afternoon is spent at your leisure – we are happy to provide suggestions!
- This evening, head off as a group to explore an atmospheric alleyway filled with small eateries
Day 4: Mito City, Tokyo
- The morning is at leisure.
- This afternoon board a train to Mito City where we visit a well-known brewery for both a beer and whisky tasting
- Dinner tonight with a local guest at a favorite spot
- Return to Tokyo this evening
Day 5: Tokyo
- Mid-morning we join a local ramen expert to check out the best noodle shops in the city
- The afternoon is spent exploring Ginza’s famed depachikas and their basement markets
- Enjoy your remaining evening at leisure
Day 6: Tokyo
- For those interested, join a local guide for a tour of additional Tokyo highlights
- The afternoon is spent visiting additional culinary points of interest which may include Kappabashi, Kitchen Town
- A memorable final farewell dinner awaits this evening
Day 7: Tokyo
- Check out of hotel and make your way to the airport (upgraded transfers available) or continue onwards to other parts of Japan with R. Crusoe & Son
